As the final seasons of the year are upon us, it’s time to reflect on the financial goals you set for 2022 and see what you need to do to achieve these goals in the next four months. The budgets or plans you set in January may have shifted, flexed, and altered with the financial shifts we’ve seen throughout the year. We encourage our clients to have a flexible mindset and budgets as life is fluid, changing in unexpected ways. Reviewing and revising your goals to suit your changing needs is so important. Being prepared for changes will open you up to accept and embrace life’s opportunities as they present themselves.
Several economic changes have affected our finances throughout the year. There have been notable increases that may have altered your initial savings plans, including:
• Interest rate
• Mortgage rate
• Inflation rates
• Gas prices
• Food prices
But, even with these increases, at Gail Sylvester Mortgages, we like to remind you that you always have OPTIONS – because you do!
With the cost of living steadily increasing, take the time to take stalk of your annual expenses and see what can be adjusted to accommodate increases in your financial commitments. Most of us enjoyed a vacation, stay-cation, or weekends away during the summer months – as you should!
These get-a-ways generally include a few more goodies or nights out than other times in the year, so it’s a great time to review your goals and see if any adjustments have to be made to stay on track to meet your 2022 financial goals.
REVIEW AND REVISE ANNUAL FINANCIAL GOALS
Review your financial commitment to these areas and see if you are at, near, or if you still have a way to go to end the year where you want to be. If your goals have changed, no problem; give yourself the flexibility to adjust to your new commitments. You may have to make some changes to the following:
• RRSP savings
• Education savings
• High-Interested debt pay down or consolidation
• Pay Down Mortgage
Knowing where you are going will give you peace of mind and allow you to devise a new plan accounting for any changes in your financial situation.
